Cleveland still collects sin, parking taxes for stadiums built in 1995 & 1999

Extra taxes on cigarettes, liquor, and parking were passed by Cleveland City Council to help pay for a new sports stadiums. The stadiums were finished in 1995 and 1999. So what happened to the tax? It's still being collected. "There is no such thing as a temporary tax", said Jim Rokakis, one of the bill's sponsors. Rokakis served as City of Cleveland Councilman and Chairman of its Finance Committee when the tax was passed. He is retired from politics. No comment from the City of Cleveland on why taxes on liquor, cigarettes, and parking are still being collected. And where it is being spent.

Hepatitis A update in Detroit

Michigan's hepatitis A outbreak is mainly in Detroit. A total of 457 cases have been confirmed as of Oct. 30th. Of those, 370 have been hospitalized and 18 have died. As of July 7th, the Michigan Health Department reported only 200 cases. The state agency reported 107 cases from August 1, 2016 to March 1, 2017.

Switzerland issues citizens assault rifles, has low murder rate

"A gun in every closet." In Switzerland, the government admits its citizens have three guns a piece.

At one time, the Swiss government bought each citizen an assault rifle including ammunition. Now, only veterans are allowed to keep their assault rifles and bullets. Military service is required for all males over 21 years of age.

Switzerland had 47 murders last year. Its population is 8.1 million people.
