Clinton, DNC paid Fusion GPS $12.4 million to fabricate Russian collusion file

The law firm of Perkins Coie confirmed that one of its 1000 lawyers, Marc Elias, hired a company to create a file with allegations about President Donald J. Trump’s Russia connections. Although based in Seattle, Washington, Perkins Coie has an office in Washington, D.C. The firm specializes in political campaigns.

Elias hired the company, Fusion GPS, and paid them $12.4 million on behalf of his clients, the Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

The law firm’s involvement became public in a letter filed in court that was written by Perkins Coie's Managing Partner Matthew Gehringer. The letter dated Oct. 24th said Perkins Coie hired Fusion GPS in April 2016.

A Perkins Coie spokesperson confirmed the law firm failed to tell its clients that they hired Fusion GPS.
