AG Sessions finally tells Congress he named John W. Huber from Utah as Special Prosecutor

John W. Huber, pictured above, was hired in July as Special Prosecutor to investigate corruption in the FBI and Justice Department. Huber's appointment remained secret until today when his boss, Jeff Sessions, told Congress.

Sessions heads the Justice Department. It prosecutes federal crimes.

Sessions said:

"I have appointed a person outside of Washington with many years in the Department of Justice to look at all the allegations the House Judiciary Committee members sent to us."

"Mr. Huber is conducting his work from outside the Washington, D.C. area and in cooperation with the Inspector General (Michael Horowitz)."

Attorney General Jeff Sessions

Please fast forward to 1:20 in the above video. Jonathan Turley, Professor of Law at Georgetown University, said:

"If I were someone like Andrew McCabe, I would not be happy with this. (McCabe was fired last week from his position as Deputy Director of the FBI.)

"You have a U.S. Attorney (Huber) working outside of Washington (D.C.), who has the ability to prosecute cases (FBI corruption), who is working with an Inspector General (Michael Horowitz) who has already made findings against McCabe.

"That's not a good situation for him and probably not a good situation for James Comey (former FBI Director)."

Sessions appointed John Huber to the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee of U.S. Attorneys. It provides advice and counsel to the Attorney General.
