Ozzie's mining gold in South Carolina
Gold is being mined again in Kershaw, South Carolina. Gold ingots are being poured.
The company doing the mining and pouring is Oceanagold. It is based in Australia.
It paid $856 million two years ago to buy the Haile Gold Mine, 60-miles southeast of Charleston. Kershaw has 1800 people.
The sales price was equivalent to buying a pro football team from the National Football League.
Oceanagold, expects to mine 150,000 ounces of gold this year at a cost of $500 an ounce.
The historic Haile Gold Mine, in Lancaster County, SC, is now owned by OceanaGold, a global gold mining company. The company took the media on a tour of its facilities, Thursday, April 27, 2017.
